OVERVIEW
The Best of Montenegro Shore Excursion begins right at the Cruise Terminal, where your expertly licensed guide and driver will be ready to welcome you.
Embark on a picturesque journey, starting from sea level and ascending to an impressive 1200 meters. Traverse the winding mountain roads with captivating views of Boka Bay and 25 switchbacks, as you make your way to Njegusi Village, the birthplace of Petar II Petrovic Njegos, a notable figure in Montenegro's history. Here, you have the opportunity to savor traditional prosciutto and cheese, integral products with deep roots in Montenegrin heritage.
Njegusi Village is also the gateway to Lovcen National Park, offering breathtaking vistas of mountains and the heart of Europe’s biodiversity. Enter the National Park and ascend 461 steps to Lake Peak, situated at 1657 meters.
From Njegusi and Lovcen, the journey continues to the Old Royal Capital of Montenegro — Cetinje. Your guide will unravel the story of Montenegro's statehood origins, and you'll visit a monastery dating back to 1484, long considered the epicenter of Montenegrin State.
Witness the grandeur of the world's highest mausoleum and old Montenegrin Capital Cetinje, before descending towards the Skadar lake area, Pavlova Strana (Pavle’s side). Here, you have the option to visit a traditional family-owned winery, embark on a boat ride on the largest lake in the Balkans, or perhaps both.
A short drive away lies the ancient city of Budva, boasting narrow streets and small squares within its Old Town, encircled by Venetian walls. The next highlight on your Best of Montenegro shore excursion is Kotor, a medieval city with a history stretching back 2000 years.
Absorb the charming atmosphere of the old town as your guide recounts the city’s intriguing past and maritime traditions. Stroll through streets leading to St. Tryphon Cathedral and St. Lucas Church, both dating back to the 12th century. Marvel at medieval palaces, Renaissance buildings, and the Maritime Museum, all important places of the city's heritage.
